WeChat and Weixin commerce data
Understand WeChat and Weixin commerce across Mini Programs, Mini Shops, Channels and Official Accounts—and which data is public.
Identify Weixin, WeChat and the user's market first
Tencent calls Weixin and WeChat separate but interoperable sister services: Weixin is designed for mainland China and WeChat for users elsewhere. Most documented commerce features are Weixin surfaces, so a wechat.com domain alone does not identify the app, market or product source.

| Context | Preserve | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Service | Whether the observation is on Weixin or WeChat, using the exact source label | That both services expose identical features or data. |
| Market | The market or locale shown by the merchant surface and the observation date | A mainland merchant offer is available to international users or vice versa. |
| Entry point | Mini Program/shop URL or identifier, QR destination, content link or search-result URL | A Mini Program is a standalone public web catalog. |
| Merchant context | Merchant/shop name or ID only when the source shows it and the record is authorized | An account profile or private identity belongs in a public product record. |
Keep Weixin commerce, content and discovery surfaces distinct
Tencent describes interconnected Weixin services, not one universal product page. Store the surface type with each observation because a merchant Mini Program, shop item, creator video and search result have different record grains.

| Surface | What Tencent documents | Useful record boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Mini Programs | Lightweight services inside Weixin; users can open them by QR code or in-app search, including merchant shopping services. | A program/page and its merchant product are separate records. |
| Mini Shops | Merchant storefronts for indexed and standardized merchandise, connected to Weixin social and content features. | Keep the shop item and merchant context separate from its social referral. |
| Channels / Video Accounts | Video and livestream publishing that can help merchants reach audiences and link to commerce. | A video, livestream and linked offer are related entities, not one product row. |
| Official Accounts | Brand, media and organization publishing and audience engagement; content can carry a shoppable product link. | An article or publisher account is not proof of stock or a completed purchase. |
| Weixin Search | Discovery for content and services within the Weixin ecosystem. | Keep result type and observation time; rank or visibility is not a sales count. |
Model shared merchant SKUs without merging their source surfaces
Tencent's 2Q 2025 report says merchants could port a SKU library from Mini Programs to Mini Shops. Treat that as a merchant-side relationship when confirmed by the authorized catalog; it does not mean every product is synchronized or that a third party can query either surface.

| Authorized catalog field | Retain | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Merchant identity | Merchant/shop key and the owning account or source export | A shared platform label does not establish the same merchant. |
| Product identity | Merchant SKU, item identifier, title/category and source product URL | A SKU should not replace the surface-specific item or page key. |
| Variant | Merchant-defined option names/values and variant identifier when present | Do not infer options or product specifications from an unrelated content post. |
| Cross-surface link | Mini Program and Mini Shop contexts plus the confirmed merchant SKU relationship | Do not merge public content with catalog identity solely on title or image similarity. |
| Offer state | Price, currency, promotion and seller-side availability with market and observation time | Authorized catalog state is not a buyer's checkout total or guaranteed live inventory. |
Link social content to products without treating engagement as sales
When a public Channel video or Official Account article links to a product or shop, preserve the content and destination separately. Tencent describes these surfaces as ways merchants connect with audiences and commerce; a visible relationship does not expose private analytics or prove a transaction.

| Record | Public or merchant-authorized evidence | Keep distinct from |
|---|---|---|
| Content item | Visible post/article/video ID or URL, publisher/creator label, format and publication time | A merchant catalog item or independent product review. |
| Product destination | Linked Mini Program/shop/product destination and the link's displayed context | The content item itself or an inferred stock/price state. |
| Discovery signal | Visible search placement or interaction count with surface and observation time, where available | Sales volume, demand or conversion without a separately documented source. |
| Account event | Orders, payment, customer details and audience analytics only in an authorized merchant/account record | Public product facts or a general third-party catalog feed. |
