Thomasnet supplier data: capabilities, certifications & RFIs

Understand Thomasnet supplier profiles, capabilities, catalog entries, certification evidence and buyer shortlist exports, with source terms in view.

Keep supplier, capability and catalog records separate

Thomasnet is an industrial supplier-discovery directory. Its public search spans suppliers, capabilities and product catalogs; a profile or catalog row is not a live retail offer or confirmed production slot. Thomas describes supplier profiles with catalogs and/or capability profiles, so missing detail means unknown coverage rather than evidence of no capability.

Product catalog entryCatalog/product label and URL; manufacturer or brand when shown; listed specifications; source dateCatalog presence is distinct from current inventory, price, MOQ and a purchasable offer.
Buyer inquiryRFI or contact action; participating supplier; buyer-owned message/project context; sent timeA request starts a conversation. It is not a supplier response, quote or order.

Search dimensions are discovery signals

Thomas documents supplier search by name, brand, product catalog and free-text product, service or capability terms. Its filters help buyers narrow candidates before qualification.

Catalog and mediaProduct catalog or capabilities profile; company overview, factory tour or project spotlight videosThese are profile-coverage indicators, not structured inventory or capacity fields.
Ordering and rankingRelevance by default; documented sorts include company size, revenue and founding yearStore the selected sort and observation time. Ranking is not a supplier-quality score.
Qualification filtersQuality certifications, other certifications/registrations, ownership diversity, origin declarations, Thomas Verified and Xometry PartnerKeep each selected filter as its own value; do not merge badges, declarations and issuer certifications.

Preserve certification and origin evidence

Thomas exposes different evidence levels for certification and diversity information. Keep the badge's source and proof level with the qualification; a directory marker is not a legal or contract-compliance determination. When a designation is shown, record the exact label and whether its evidence is self-reported, third-party, supplier-site or a viewable document.

Buyer tools produce account-specific records

Thomas's documented tools connect public supplier profiles to a buyer's saved research. Preserve the tool output and timestamp separately from observations of the public profile.

Respect the source's access boundaries

The reviewed U.S.-site Terms prohibit scraping and data-mining/robots tools and restrict third-party redistribution and commercial comparison databases. They describe a narrow single-copy exception for internal use with proprietary notices retained. Thomas's robots file separately defines crawler-specific and query-string rules; a robots directive does not grant content-use permission.
