Machinery Trader listings: fields, data and access rules
Machinery Trader fields and Sandhills access rules. Current Terms prohibit scraping, automated collection, report extraction and public or commercial reuse.
Machinery Trader hosts listings; sellers provide the equipment claims
Machinery Trader is a Sandhills Global marketplace for equipment listings. Sandhills says it is not the buyer or seller and is not party to transactions between users. A listing is information supplied by its provider, not an independent inspection or proof of a completed sale. This independent field guide is not a Machinery Trader or Sandhills service.

| Entity | What it represents | Record boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Platform | Machinery Trader site and its category surfaces | Record marketplace and site separately from an equipment seller. |
| Listing provider | Dealer, auctioneer, rental company or other item provider named by the listing | Attribute description, condition and specifications to the provider; do not treat them as independently verified. |
| Listed asset or part | Machine, attachment, component or dismantled item described for a particular sale or use state | Keep the asset identity separate from the listing record that describes it. |
| Transaction | Potential sale, auction event or rental terms between users | The marketplace listing is not itself a transaction or confirmed transfer price. |
Sale, auction, rental, parts and dismantled listings have different states
Do not flatten Machinery Trader's separate listing modes into one inventory table. The state determines which price field, lifecycle date and identity should be compared.

| Listing mode | Fields that define the record | Keep distinct from |
|---|---|---|
| For sale | Asset listing ID, sale state, asking-price label and currency, provider, last-updated time | A final transaction price or independent valuation. |
| Upcoming auction | Lot number, auction event/date, bidding or result state, asset identity | A fixed asking price or a completed sale unless the source explicitly provides a result. |
| For rent | Equipment identity, rental availability and rate period when displayed | An outright purchase amount; a day/week/month rate is use-period pricing. |
| Parts and attachments | Part or attachment type, manufacturer/model reference and stated fitment | A complete machine listing or unverified compatibility. |
| Dismantled equipment | Parent machine identity and separately listed components, where stated | A working-machine condition claim or one complete asset record. |
Start with identifiers, then use the category's own specifications
Equipment listings can expose a platform listing or lot reference alongside provider stock numbers, serial or vehicle identifiers, make, model and year. These identifiers have different owners and grains. Add the technical fields required by that equipment type; the same specification set does not fit a forklift, excavator, truck and attachment.

| Field group | Examples of source labels | How to retain it |
|---|---|---|
| Listing identity | Platform/listing reference, auction lot number, provider stock number | Store each identifier with its identifier type and issuing party. |
| Machine identity | Manufacturer, model, year, serial number or VIN when displayed | Do not merge a seller stock number with a serial/VIN or infer a missing identifier. |
| Usage and condition | Hours or mileage, condition label, seller description | Keep the exact label, source attribution and observation time; do not promote a claim to verified condition. |
| Category specifications | Capacity, dimensions, power, hydraulic flow, axle or suspension attributes where relevant | Preserve category, original unit and source wording; leave inapplicable fields blank. |
| Location and recency | Listing location and update timestamp | Keep location tied to the listing and distinguish listing update from a transaction date. |
An asking price is not a sale result or equipment valuation
A source may show different kinds of money on the same page. Retain the label and basis instead of comparing every amount as if it were the price paid for the machine.

| Displayed value type | What it means | Comparison boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Asking price | Provider's listed amount and currency, if shown | It is an offer state, not a confirmed transaction value. |
| Call for price | A price is not displayed as a numeric amount | Do not convert the missing amount to zero or an estimated value. |
| Financing estimate | An illustrative payment calculation linked to financing terms | Keep it separate from the listed purchase price and total financing cost. |
| Auction state | Event date, bid or sale-result field if the source supplies one | A scheduled lot is not a result; only a specifically identified result may be analyzed as one. |
| Rental rate | An amount associated with a rental period such as daily, weekly or monthly | Keep the period, currency and availability with the rate; do not treat rent as purchase price. |
Seller-provided hours, condition and specifications need provenance
Sandhills' Terms place responsibility for listing accuracy on the item provider and disclaim guarantees about listing truth or accuracy. A defensible record therefore keeps each value attached to its source, time and author instead of turning seller text into a verified machine fact.

| Record field | Recommended provenance | Quality rule |
|---|---|---|
| Condition and operating hours | Exact displayed label, provider, listing reference and checked time | Do not infer service history or mechanical condition from a field value. |
| Serial/VIN and stock number | Identifier type, source label and authorized record scope | Do not merge identifier systems or publish private/contact details. |
| Technical specification | Category, source field name, raw unit and normalized unit if separately derived | Mark normalized values as derived; retain the source value for audit. |
| Price and availability | Price basis, currency, marketplace state, location and observation time | A listing may change or disappear; absence is not proof of an item being sold. |
| Rights and attribution | Record owner, permitted purpose and source evidence | Do not copy Machinery Trader Site Information for public or commercial reuse under the current Terms. |
The current Sandhills Terms prohibit automated extraction and broad reuse
The MachineryTrader.com Terms of Use display Last Updated: September 28, 2026. Section 4 limits use to listing items for sale or viewing them for potential purchase. Section 5(4) requires a license for other purposes; §§5(7)–(8) prohibit scraping and automated collection; §§5(10)–(11) restrict public/commercial reuse, aggregation and report extraction; §5(12) prohibits taking screenshots; §5(16) prohibits bypassing access controls, including robot-exclusion headers. Sandhills' own use of AI in §§1 and 11 does not establish permission for outside AI agents. The robots.txt file could not be verified on this review date, so no crawler directives are claimed.

Build equipment records from data you own or are authorized to use
A useful fleet or dealer inventory model can be built from its owner's records, manufacturer documentation, or data specifically authorized for that purpose. This schema is a planning model; it is not Machinery Trader output or evidence that a Sandhills feed or API exists.

| Proposed field | Example value shape | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Asset identity | Internal asset ID; equipment category; make/model/year | Separate your asset key from external seller or listing identifiers. |
| Technical attributes | Field name, raw value, unit and optional normalized value | Different machine classes require different technical fields. |
| Usage and condition | Hours/mileage, inspection date, condition evidence | Keep observations tied to authorized inspection or owner records. |
| Commercial state | Owned, for sale, for rent or auction; price basis and currency | Do not conflate rental, asking-price and realized-sale measures. |
| Provenance and rights | Source record, provider/owner, observation time and permitted purpose | A clear rights field helps prevent unlicensed reuse. |
| Location | Operating region or site at the precision the owner permits | Keep location scope with availability and pricing. |
