Depop listing data: item condition, offers & bundles
A Depop listing is not just a reusable catalog SKU. Its seller-written fit notes, condition, photos, shipping choice and current offer can all be specific to one second-hand item. Keep those listing-level details together, and distinguish a visible asking price from a private offer or completed transaction.
Build the record around the individual listing

- Listing state · offer expiry · observation date
Depop's own seller guidance asks for measurements and fit notes, condition details, category, brand, price, color and style. Its September 2026 Terms restrict automated collection and reuse of another seller's content; robots.txt gives separate path-level crawler directions.
Treat each Depop listing as a seller's specific offer, not a reusable catalog SKU
Depop describes its service as a marketplace where users buy and sell items from other users. For vintage, second-hand or one-off goods, the listing URL and seller/shop are part of the item identity: two items with the same brand and model can differ in size, wear, measurements, photos and terms. Keep each live listing as an offer record instead of merging it into a factory-product family.

| Listing field | Why it matters on Depop | Record it as |
|---|---|---|
| Listing URL and item identifier | The listing represents a seller's offer for a physical item, not necessarily an item sold by multiple retailers. | Exact URL and displayed listing identity, plus observation time. |
| Seller/shop | The buyer-seller transaction is between the user who lists the item and the buyer. | Public shop context when permitted; don't infer seller identity beyond what the source displays. |
| Category, brand and style | Depop asks sellers for category/subcategory, brand and style details to help buyers find an item. | Keep each source field; don't infer a brand from a hashtag or photo alone. |
| Quantity | A seller may list quantity when applicable, while many resale listings describe one item. | Preserve the stated quantity and distinguish a multi-quantity listing from separate one-off items. |
| Listing state and time | The status of a listing can change independently of its seller-described product attributes. | Store what the page displays at the observation time; do not infer a sale from disappearance alone. |
Keep seller-described condition and garment measurements with the item
Depop's seller guidance asks for measurements and fit notes because sizes vary between brands, and asks sellers to mention wear marks or defects. These details can determine whether a second-hand item is comparable to another listing. The seller's language and photos describe a particular item; don't turn them into a standardized condition score or a fit guarantee.

| Evidence on the listing | Useful details | How to avoid false equivalence |
|---|---|---|
| Size and fit | Labeled size, garment measurements and fit notes if supplied. | Do not assume a tagged size means the same dimensions across brands, decades or garment cuts. |
| Condition | Seller's exact condition wording, wear marks, defects and repair notes. | Depop's listing guide does not establish a universal condition-grade scale; keep the seller's words. |
| Photos | The item's visible front, back, tags and disclosed flaws where available. | Do not treat another seller's photo or a brand catalog image as the exact item's condition evidence. |
| Category and attributes | Category/subcategory, brand, up to two colors, style, quantity and relevant tags when provided. | Store source labels separately from automatically suggested keywords; missing values are not negative facts. |
| Description provenance | Seller-written text and the specific listing it describes. | User content cannot be reused without the seller's consent under Depop's current Terms of Service. |
Separate the listing ask, an offer and a completed sale
Depop offers are not the same as the visible listing price or a confirmed transaction. Its current Send Offer guide says an offer lasts 14 days, excludes shipping, and does not stop another buyer from purchasing at the original ask before the item sells. Depop's Terms effective September 2, 2026 also describe a buyer Marketplace Fee in the UK, U.S. and Australia: it is based on the final item price agreed with the seller, excluding tax and shipping, and itemized in the receipt or confirmation. Keep the fee and any applicable tax separate from item price, shipping and seller offer; do not infer a fixed fee rate or checkout total.

| Price signal | Record | Do not conclude |
|---|---|---|
| Listing price | Displayed asking amount, currency, selected size/variant and observation time. | That the seller accepted a lower offer or the listed item sold for this amount. |
| Offer or counteroffer | Offer amount, sender/recipient context when lawfully available, expiry and shipping stated separately. | That an offer was accepted or paid merely because it was sent or visible to one account. |
| Shipping | Seller's shipping amount or Depop Shipping context as a separate offer component. | That the offer amount includes delivery; Depop says offer prices exclude shipping. |
| Suggested price | A seller-tool suggestion and its displayed basis, if the seller chooses to document it. | A verified market average, realized transaction value or reusable third-party price dataset. |
| Completed sale | A confirmed transaction value from an authorized transaction source, with currency and fees/ship breakdown. | That the original ask, an expired offer or a removed listing is the final paid price. |
| Buyer Marketplace Fee | For buyers in the UK, U.S. and Australia, the current Terms apply a fee to the final item price agreed with the seller, excluding taxes and shipping; the fee is itemized in the order receipt/confirmation. UK VAT and Australian GST are included in the fee; U.S. sales tax may apply to it where applicable. | Store the fee and any tax separately from the listing ask, accepted offer, shipping and final item price. Do not hard-code a rate or estimate a checkout total. |
A bundle changes the shipping and discount context across several listings
Depop bundles can combine multiple items from one shop with a seller-set item discount, a shipping incentive or a custom adjustment. For U.S. bundles where every item uses Depop Shipping via USPS, Depop says it creates one label sized for the bundle's combined weight. Retain item-level values as well as the bundle terms so the combined offer is not mistaken for the price of one listing.

| Bundle element | Model | Important context |
|---|---|---|
| Included listings | Each item URL, seller/shop, line price and quantity. | The items remain distinct even when bought together. |
| Seller incentive | Percentage or flat item discount, free shipping or reduced shipping as displayed. | The seller chooses the bundle setting; don't apply it to every shop or listing. |
| Combined shipping | Shipping method, destination, parcel size and combined package weight where provided. | A shipping benefit is not an item-price discount. |
| Depop Shipping label | For a U.S. bundle whose items all use Depop Shipping via USPS, the label is sized for combined weight. | The cited bundle-label rule is scoped to U.S. USPS and UK Evri Depop Shipping; don't generalize it across manual or other-market shipping. |
| Bundle transaction | Bundle total and each line item, with any shipping and discount breakdown available from an authorized source. | Depop says each item in a bundle is counted individually for seller sale and review counts; a transaction total is not one item's price. |
| Market and currency | Depop states that the merchant-of-record entity can vary with payment currency and location; it names the UK, U.S. and Australia entities separately. | Store selected country, currency and the displayed payment context with each offer; do not pool local prices without preserving market. |
Treat seller suggestions and user content as different kinds of evidence
Depop's Terms of Service, effective September 2, 2026, treat seller posts as User Content and prohibit using or sharing another user's content without their consent, except content populated through Depop's Repop tool. Depop may also offer AI-assisted listing suggestions or populate a draft from a past listing. Those outputs are suggestions for the seller to review, not an outside data or model-training license.

| Source signal | What it can support | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Suggested price range | A seller-facing recommendation influenced by similar items sold and listing attributes. | A public, complete or independently verified sold-price history. |
| Listing view or ask | The seller's currently displayed offer at a point in time. | A market-clearing price, buyer willingness to pay or a completed sale. |
| Seller description | The seller's account of the item, fit, condition or flaws. | Independent verification of authenticity, dimensions or item condition. |
| Listing photos | Visible visual evidence attached to that listing. | Permission to copy, republish, train on or redistribute the image. |
| Marketplace activity | An authorized, terms-compliant transaction or seller report. | Permission to analyze, share or commercialize member content or user data. |
| Depop Repop and AI listing help | The Terms describe AI-powered listing suggestions and draft population from another seller’s earlier User Content through Repop; sellers are responsible for reviewing the result. | Keep source-authored material separate from suggested or repopulated copy. The Depop feature does not grant an external service a reuse right. |
Depop's private Selling API returns seller-scoped records, not a market-wide catalog
Depop's Selling API documentation describes a private partner integration for inventory and order operations. Direct partners use API keys for shops they manage; cross-listing applications use seller-approved OAuth 2.0, and access must be arranged with Depop. The documented products endpoint returns the authorized partner's own listings, not a public search across Depop sellers.
Scroll to compare →
| API detail | What the official documentation says | Record and access boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication | API keys are for direct partners managing their own shop(s); OAuth 2.0 is for third-party applications such as cross-listing tools. Depop says to contact it to arrange credentials. | Keep the account owner and approved integration with every API observation. This is not unauthenticated marketplace access. |
| Read scopes | `products_read` is required for product information; optional `offers_read` adds `auto_send_offer_price` and `auto_negotiate_offer_price`. Separate scopes cover orders and shop data. | Record the approved token scopes. A field omitted without its scope is not a verified empty value. |
| Products endpoint | `GET /api/v1/products/` returns products listed by the authenticated shop, up to 100 per response with cursor pagination. Its `state` filter can request `selling`, `sold` or `all`. | Treat returned items as that authorized shop’s inventory/records, not a cross-seller catalog or public sold-price history. A `/sold/` path blocked in robots.txt is a separate crawl rule. |
| Partner API terms | The Selling API is private. Its current Access Service Terms prohibit automated systems or browser extensions from accessing, analysing or scraping the Platform, API or Depop data unless Depop expressly authorizes it in writing; API collection for analytics, machine learning, model training, licensing or content removal also requires express authorization. | Public documentation does not provide credentials or permission. Keep any partner agreement, approved scopes and authorized purpose separate. |
| Platform Terms | The Terms of Service effective September 2, 2026 prohibit mining, scraping or crawling the Service, including internal API capabilities, and using bots or other third-party software. They also restrict use or sharing of another user’s User Content without consent, with a narrow exception for Depop’s own Repop feature. | Read the current platform Terms alongside any partner agreement; neither public endpoints nor a seller’s OAuth consent alone establish broader data-use rights. |
Depop's robots rules exclude filtered searches and several listing paths
Depop’s robots.txt, checked October 4, 2026, excludes `/search/*`, magic-link routes, `*/selling/*`, `*/sold/*`, `*/likes/*` and `*/other/*`, plus the listed filter and attribution query parameters. A separate Yandex group has a two-second crawl delay and additional search/filter exclusions; `GemIndexer` and `PetalBot` are each disallowed from all paths. The file lists Depop’s sitemap index. These are crawl-path instructions, not collection or reuse permission; the current Terms separately prohibit mining, scraping, crawling and bots.
Scroll to compare →
| Robots entry | Published rule | Interpret it with care |
|---|---|---|
| Wildcard paths | The `User-agent: *` group disallows `/search/*`, `/magic-link/`, `/*/magic-link/`, signup/login/email-change magic-link routes, `*/selling/*`, `*/sold/*`, `*/likes/*` and `*/other/*`. | These are path exclusions. An ordinary listing URL not named here is not permission to collect or reuse its contents. |
| Wildcard query parameters | The wildcard group disallows `from`, `categories`, `subcategories`, `brands`, `sizes`, `priceMin`, `priceMax`, `hasFreeShipping`, `isDiscounted`, `colours` and `conditions` query parameters. | Record the exact requested URL and query state; do not treat the absence of a filter rule as an access or content-use grant. |
| Yandex group | `User-agent: Yandex` lists a 2.0-second crawl delay, a `/search/?q=*&` exclusion and the same named category/brand/size/price/shipping/discount/color/condition filters. | This is a separate named-agent group and does not override the wildcard rules or the Terms. |
| Sitewide blocked agents | `GemIndexer` and `PetalBot` each have `Disallow: /`. | Report only these named rules; do not generalize them into a policy for all AI agents or every crawler. |
| Sitemap | The robots file points to `https://www.depop.com/sitemap_index.xml`. | A sitemap is a URL-discovery index, not a data license or proof that each listing remains available. |
| Terms of Service | Effective September 2, 2026; separately prohibits mining, scraping or crawling the Service, including internal API capabilities, and the use of bots or other third-party software. | Keep current Terms and path-level robots rules side by side; do not treat one as replacing the other. |

Depop listing, offers and access questions
Is a Depop listing a product-family record or a single resale item?
Treat it as a seller-authored offer for an individual item unless the listing explicitly states a quantity or multiple-size configuration. A vintage garment's size, wear, measurements, photos and seller description can distinguish it from another nominally identical item. Keep the listing URL and seller/shop context with each observation.
Are Depop condition labels standardized?
Depop's seller guidance asks the seller to describe condition and note wear marks or defects; it does not define a universal condition scale in that guidance. Preserve the seller's exact words and any visible flaws. Do not translate an unstructured description into another marketplace's grade without a documented mapping.
Does a Depop offer include shipping?
No. Depop says a buyer or seller offer is for the item and does not include shipping. Its current help article says offers last 14 days; until an item is sold, another buyer may still purchase it at the original price. Store asking price, offer amount, shipping and any confirmed completed transaction as different facts.
How does Depop bundle shipping work?
Sellers can offer an item discount or a shipping incentive for multiple items from the same shop. When a U.S. bundle uses Depop Shipping via USPS for all items, Depop says it generates one label sized for the combined weight. Keep each listing and its line price, then record the bundle discount and combined shipping separately.
Can Depop sellers use an API for their own listings?
Depop documents a private Selling API for authorized partner operations. Direct partners use API keys for shops they manage, while cross-listing apps use seller-approved OAuth 2.0 scopes such as products_read or orders_read; access must be arranged with Depop. The documented products endpoint returns the authenticated partner's listings, not a public search across Depop sellers. Its Terms of Service effective September 2, 2026 prohibit mining, scraping or crawling the Service, including internal API capabilities, and using bots or other third-party software.
Can I reuse Depop listing photos or descriptions in a resale report?
Depop's Terms of Service effective September 2, 2026 prohibit using or sharing another user's User Content without that user's consent, except content populated through Depop's Repop tool. The Terms also describe Depop's own AI listing suggestions and draft population; those are suggestions the seller must review, not permission for an outside service to copy listings, train on them or redistribute their content.
Which Depop listing paths does robots.txt exclude?
The current robots file excludes search filters, magic-link routes, seller /selling/, /sold/, /likes/ and /other/ paths, plus several filter and attribution parameters. It separately blocks all paths for GemIndexer and PetalBot and lists a sitemap index. The September 2, 2026 Terms separately prohibit mining, scraping or crawling the Service and using bots; crawl paths do not grant data-use rights.
