RockAuto parts data: vehicle fitment, part numbers and pricing
Map RockAuto catalog data to vehicle applications, part numbers, fitment notes, package quantity, core charges, stock labels and destination-specific shipping.
RockAuto’s catalog follows a vehicle application
RockAuto is an online auto-parts retailer organized around vehicle applications and part-number search. A catalog selection leads from make and year to model and engine, then into a system or category. Treat each listing as a part offered for a selected application, not as a seller offer in a marketplace.

| Catalog element | What to retain | Why the distinction matters |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle application | Year, make, model and engine, plus the selected vehicle-market context when shown. | A make and model alone can cover multiple engines or applications. |
| Catalog path | The vehicle, system and part category used to reach the listing. | The category path explains how the part was found; it is not the manufacturer part number. |
| Part identity | Brand or manufacturer, displayed part number and the source listing or Info page URL. | Keep brand and part number as separate fields; similar names do not establish equivalence. |
| Observation | Page URL and date/time observed, with any shown price or availability state. | Catalog details and commercial values can change, so retain when and where each observation was made. |
Fitment notes qualify the selected vehicle
RockAuto’s help pages say catalog listings fit the selected year, make, model and engine, while a listing can add qualifiers that narrow the application. Preserve those notes with the individual part. Vehicle-selection flags and flags on a part listing describe different market information.

| Fitment field | Source meaning | How to record it |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle selection | Catalog vehicle flags indicate where the vehicle was originally sold; the help page names the United States, Canada and Mexico. | Store the selected application and its origin-market flag as vehicle context. |
| Application qualifiers | A listing may specify RWD or 4WD, door count, air conditioning, or other vehicle features. | Preserve each qualifier verbatim and link it to the exact part listing. |
| Build dates and side | A listing can include To/From production dates. Left and right are defined as viewed while seated in the vehicle. | Keep dates and side as separate fields; do not infer side from a user's location or assume a date range applies to every trim. |
| Part-listing market flag | This flag indicates the market for which the manufacturer supplied application data; it is not a country-of-manufacture label. | Do not merge it with the vehicle-origin flag or treat it as proof of manufacturing origin. |
| Compatibility check | RockAuto asks buyers to read limiting factors and use the vehicle catalog to confirm an application. | A catalog match is not a VIN-level fitment certificate; preserve the source notes and verify the specific vehicle when needed. |
Part-number search returns exact and related matches
RockAuto’s Part Number Search can return exact-number results alongside items the manufacturer has reported as equivalent or closely related. RockAuto says not every manufacturer supplies cross-reference data and recommends using the Part Catalog to confirm fit and review application details.

| Search result | What it represents | Safe comparison rule |
|---|---|---|
| Exact number | A result whose displayed number matches the number entered. | Keep the searched value and the result’s displayed brand and number; exact text alone does not resolve vehicle application. |
| Manufacturer-reported equivalent or related number | A manufacturer-supplied cross-reference that RockAuto labels equivalent or closely related. | Store the match type and source; do not treat a related result as a universal interchange or fitment guarantee. |
| No cross-reference result | The help page notes that cross-reference coverage is not provided for every part. | A missing number match is not proof that no applicable part exists; use the vehicle and category path. |
| Application confirmation | RockAuto recommends checking the vehicle catalog and part-specific application details. | Retain fitment qualifiers with the part-number relationship rather than merging records by title or number similarity. |
Part price depends on package and required quantity
A useful price comparison needs the listing’s unit basis as well as the vehicle’s required quantity. RockAuto explains that parts are priced individually unless a listing says otherwise; some listings show package quantity, unit price and the total cost for the pack. Required-for-vehicle quantity and package size are separate facts.

| Price or quantity field | RockAuto listing meaning | Keep separate from |
|---|---|---|
| Displayed unit price | A listing may show a per-item price, including a per-unit view for a multipack. | Pack total, shipping and a different brand’s price observation. |
| Package count and pack total | An x2 or x4 indicator describes multiple units in one package; RockAuto’s example shows both per-unit and full-pack cost. | The number needed for one vehicle or a separate order quantity. |
| X per car or X required | A listing note about how many of that part are used or required for the vehicle. | The quantity of units included in a package; retain the original note and its application. |
| Axle set or quantity one | Some parts, including brake pads and shoes, are sold as axle sets; one order quantity can cover both wheels of an axle. | A single loose unit or a universal installation instruction. |
| Core deposit | A blue core charge is a deposit for an eligible old part; the help page says cores must be returned within six months of the order date. | The part’s base price, shipping and the amount ultimately refunded after a qualifying return. |
Availability and shipping depend on the cart
RockAuto’s help pages distinguish catalog availability labels from supplier delays and destination-specific delivery estimates. Shipping location letters group cart items that can ship together; they are not stable warehouse identifiers. A useful landed-cost comparison records the exact cart and destination used for the quote.

| Signal | RockAuto help describes | Comparison boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Catalog availability | The help page says listed parts are in stock and ready to ship unless marked Non-stock item or Out of Stock. | Record the displayed label and observation time; the page does not provide a numeric stock count. |
| X Day Delay | RockAuto says a warehouse can order the part from a supplier and needs up to the stated business days to receive and prepare it for shipment. | This is a sourcing/preparation delay, not a destination-specific delivery estimate. |
| A/B/C cart group | Arbitrary letters show which cart items can ship together; items from different locations can have separate shipping charges. | Treat the letter as a cart-level grouping that can change, not a named or permanent warehouse ID. |
| Shipping quote | The quote depends on cart contents, destination country and postal code, item size and weight, location and current carrier rates. | Store the cart composition, destination, selected method, quoted cost and quote time together. |
| Receive-by estimate | RockAuto says estimates account for processing, the selected carrier method and any listed delay; carrier dates are not guaranteed. | Keep estimates separate from actual delivery dates and from a promise of service. |
Build an application-aware parts observation
For aftermarket catalog, pricing and assortment research, model a part listing under its vehicle application and preserve source-specific relationships. The sequence is vehicle selection, category or part-number lookup, application review, quantity and core normalization, then dated price and cart-quote observations.

| Record | Useful fields | Relationship to preserve |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle application | Year, make, model, engine, vehicle-origin market and source URL. | A selected vehicle can have multiple categories and qualifying applications. |
| Part listing | Brand, part number, category, listing URL, exact/related match type and fitment notes. | One manufacturer number can have multiple application records; do not collapse them by title. |
| Price and quantity | Displayed currency and unit price, package size and total, required quantity note, core charge and observation time. | Keep the buyer’s comparison basis explicit so unit and pack prices are not mistaken for each other. |
| Availability and quote | Stock or delay label, cart group, destination country/postal code, method, quoted shipping and estimate timestamp. | Availability belongs to a dated listing observation; shipping belongs to the specific cart and destination. |
| Public interface evidence | The reviewed RockAuto pages document the Part Catalog, Part Number Search and cart-based quotes. | Those pages do not specify a bulk catalog API; this describes the documentation reviewed and does not establish whether another interface exists. |
