OTTO.de product data: sellers, variants and search

OTTO.de product and offer data: separate OTTO items, marketplace sellers, article IDs, variations, delivery terms, sponsored search and named crawler rules.

OTTO.de combines OTTO-Artikel and marketplace sellers

OTTO's marketplace terms distinguish an OTTO-Artikel from an Artikel anderer Verkäufer. The seller shown on the product page is also identified through the cart and before checkout. Keep the seller attached to each item rather than treating every listing on otto.de as sold by OTTO.

OTTO retail itemOTTO-ArtikelRecord OTTO as seller only when the item page identifies it as the seller.
Marketplace itemArtikel anderer Verkäufer and the Verkäufer labelKeep the named seller and the product item together; the marketplace partner offers it in its own name and on its own account.
Product versus order lineThe seller appears on the item page, cart, and before the order is completed.A product record and seller offer describe public catalog state; an order or account record is a separate customer transaction.
Multiple sellersThe same shopping service can show items from more than one seller.Do not merge different sellers' prices, service terms, or shipping charges into one retailer offer.

Artikel-Nr., manufacturer reference and variation are different fields

OTTO product pages can show an OTTO Artikel-Nr., a separate Hersteller Artikelnummer, and selected options such as size or color. Preserve the source labels and relationships. A manufacturer number is not automatically an OTTO item ID, and an option value is not automatically a standalone product.

FieldExample source labelModel it as
OTTO item identifierArtikel-Nr.The identifier displayed by OTTO for the item page; retain punctuation and the canonical page URL.
Manufacturer referenceHersteller ArtikelnummerA manufacturer-provided identifier, separate from OTTO's article number; do not assume it is unique across all options.
Selected variationGröße, Farbe, or another category-specific optionA named value linked to the item; preserve an explicit variation identifier separately if the source provides one.
Product and option URLA product page with selectable optionsKeep the parent item, selected option, and any variation-specific page reference distinct; do not infer an ID from the URL shape.

A seller offer carries its own price and delivery terms

OTTO's current Marketplace FAQ says each seller sets its own prices and conditions. Delivery time is shown on the item page; shipping charges can differ when a basket includes items from different sellers. The FAQ currently limits delivery of third-party seller items to Germany, a policy that should be rechecked before cross-border analysis.

Seller and offerThe item page identifies OTTO or another seller; more than one seller can offer an item.Create a distinct offer record for each seller and preserve the seller label as shown.
Price and conditionA displayed amount and any condition label, if shown, relate to the selected item or offer.Keep currency, selected variation, seller, and observation time together; do not publish a live value as an evergreen fact.
Shipping and deliveryMarketplace sellers set their own conditions; the FAQ says seller delivery time appears before ordering and shipping costs can be seller-specific.Compare delivery and shipping on the same item, seller, destination, and observation date.
Service termsThe current FAQ directs buyers to the conditions and services of the respective seller.Retain the applicable seller-policy reference and review date rather than applying one universal OTTO service rule.
Destination scopeThe FAQ currently says third-party seller item orders are delivered only within Germany.Keep buyer destination and policy observation date; recheck before comparing cross-border offers.

Category attributes and product-safety details need separate treatment

OTTO's item pages expose details by category. A footwear record may use size, color, upper and lining materials, closure, sole material, and shoe width; those fields do not define a phone, appliance, or furniture listing. Preserve OTTO's labels and add only fields actually shown for that category and item.

Detail groupOTTO page contextHow to preserve it
Category attributesFashion details can include size, color, material, lining, closure, sole, or width.Use a category-specific field map and keep the original German label beside any normalized value.
Other product categoriesHome, furniture, and electronics pages use their own descriptive and technical details.Do not fill absent fields with assumptions or copy a footwear schema to unrelated categories.
Product-safety informationSome item pages show Wichtige Informationen or Details zur Produktsicherheit, including an EU responsible economic operator.Keep the displayed role and source reference distinct from brand, seller, and manufacturer; do not infer responsible-party details when absent.
Missing or unclear detailA field may be absent, ambiguous, or expressed only in item-specific copy.Leave it unknown and preserve the source page for review instead of manufacturing a normalized value.

OTTO explains factors for its own product search

OTTO's Nutzungsbedingungen, marked Stand: Juli 2025, describe how its Produktsuche orders results. They identify text matching and several attractiveness factors, but do not publish a complete weighting formula. Treat this as an attributed description of OTTO's internal product search, not a claim about Google or other external search engines.

Query matchSearch terms are matched to product information such as title and description; stronger match can improve the chance of a higher result position.Do not equate OTTO on-site relevance with external SEO ranking.
User preferenceThe page gives following a brand as an example of preference information.A user-specific preference is not a stable product attribute.
Recent popularityOTTO says purchases over recent weeks contribute to product popularity. This is a time-bounded platform signal, not a permanent product fact.
Other attractiveness factorsOTTO names average customer ratings and fast delivery as examples. The guide does not collect ratings or customer-review text.
Sponsored placementProducts funded by OTTO suppliers or other sellers are marked gesponsert.Record sponsorship on a dated search-result observation, not as a product identity or seller-offer property.

OTTO publishes separate product and variation sitemap families

The robots file currently lists one category-sitemap index and nine product-sitemap plus nine variation-sitemap indexes, grouped by retail category. Separate sitemap families are a useful clue that product and option records have different discovery paths; they do not prove complete coverage or a public offer feed.

Robots directives differ by the named crawler group

OTTO's robots.txt lists several distinct user-agent groups. The named GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, OAI-Searchbot, PerplexityBot, and Perplexity-User group has specific disallows; do not apply another group's rules to it or infer permission from paths not listed.

Crawl instructions and commercial-use terms answer different questions

OTTO's current Nutzungsbedingungen state that its services are for private use and commercial use of information within those services requires express consent. The same page describes OTTO content as protected. This is OTTO's published policy; the page does not provide legal advice or grant an extraction right.

Link product, variation, seller offer and search observation without merging them

A useful OTTO catalog model keeps the product item, selected variation, seller offer, and search-result impression as related records with separate timestamps. The table describes fields to preserve when a data source and use basis have been reviewed; it is not a sample of retrieved OTTO data.
