EC21 product data: suppliers, catalogs and buying leads
A practical EC21 guide to product catalogs, supplier profiles and buying leads. Preserve MOQs, trade terms, source identity and observation context.
EC21 is a B2B marketplace, not a consumer product store.
EC21 presents a trade marketplace where buyers search supplier product catalogs and company profiles, while suppliers promote products and respond to sourcing requests. A product listing, a company profile, a buyer-authored lead and a supplier inquiry are separate records with different evidence and lifetimes.

| EC21 record | Who creates or supplies it | What it can answer — and what it cannot prove |
|---|---|---|
| Product catalog listing | Supplier or company member | Which item and offer terms are posted; not a negotiated quote, order or verified product specification. |
| Company profile | The company or member account | How the company presents its business; not independent proof of factory capacity, legal status or every product claim. |
| Buying lead | A buyer, or another member posting a trade offer in the Buying Leads area | What requirement or offer is stated; not evidence of an order or completed demand. |
| Global Buyer Directory record | EC21's assembled directory, which it says draws on multiple source types | What buyer interest and directory fields are shown; not necessarily a lead created directly on EC21 or an independently verified buyer. |
A product listing is a supplier post, not a final quote.
EC21's product-posting instructions separate Product Name from Model Name/Number: the name identifies the kind of item, while a model number belongs in its own field. Category and keywords support discovery. Keep any offer amount with its currency, unit, trade condition, minimum order and observation time; an unmatched listing amount is not a delivered-cost comparison.

| Listing field | Source-specific interpretation | Comparison boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Product Name / Model Name or Number | Separate item name from an optional model identifier; preserve both as posted. | Do not turn a model into a consumer SKU or variant unless the source defines it that way. |
| Category / Keywords / Brand Name | Keep the selected EC21 category, search keywords and brand field distinct. | A keyword is a discovery label, not a product specification or certification. |
| Unit Price / Currency | Keep the displayed amount, currency and unit together, with the listing URL and observation date. | Do not compare different quantities, product configurations or currencies as if equivalent. |
| Price Condition / Delivery Port | Preserve the stated Incoterm or price condition and the named port, if supplied. | FOB or another trade term does not mean delivered price or firm availability. |
| Minimum Order / Packaging / Supply Ability | Keep MOQ and its unit, package description, delivery lead time and stated supply ability as separate fields. | Supplier-entered capacity and lead time are claims, not a commitment or quote. |
| Origin / Materials / Size / Weight | Capture only fields visible on that listing, retaining its raw unit and source wording. | Do not infer missing specifications from the company profile or another listing. |
Buyers and suppliers use different lead workflows.
EC21's help pages describe two buyer paths: search products by keyword or category and contact a supplier, or post a buying lead when the desired item is not found and receive inquiries. For suppliers, the documented paths include searching buying leads and contacting the buyer, or posting a product and receiving inquiries. These messages are workflow events, not catalog records or completed transactions.

| Participant | Documented workflow | Keep separate in a research record |
|---|---|---|
| Buyer / importer | Search a product category or keyword; contact a supplier, or post a buying lead if the item was not found. | Search observation, public lead, inquiry and eventual quote are different states. |
| Supplier / exporter | Search buying leads and contact a buyer, or post a product listing to attract inquiries. | Company profile, product post and buyer contact event are different records. |
| Buying Lead post | Help instructions name a subject, category, keywords, valid-until date and detailed requirements such as item, size, color, quantity and payment terms. | Retain the post's author side and dates; a lead expresses stated intent, not verified purchasing demand. |
| Lead approval and contact text | EC21 help says staff review leads before approved information appears online; it instructs members to remove email addresses from the lead details. | Do not copy personal contact details or assume a posted requirement is a public order. |
A company check and a buyer-directory row are different evidence.
EC21 says TradeVerify and its partners check company and registered-contact information, but the exact checkpoints vary by provider. The Global Buyer Directory also separates a public New Buyers Data summary from deeper database services. Keep each claim attached to its source and date; neither a badge nor a directory entry proves that a specific product will meet a buyer's requirements.

| Evidence shown by EC21 | What the source describes | What remains unproven |
|---|---|---|
| TradeVerify | Checks may cover company registration, address/contact operation and whether the registered contact is associated with the company; third-party checkpoints vary. | Product quality, factory capacity, order performance or every company claim. |
| Public New Buyers Data | A visible summary with buyer interest, category, country/region and posted date. | Full buyer contact details, complete directory coverage or a lead's current purchasing intent. |
| Global Buyer Database | EC21 describes a premium directory with keyword/category search and member-limited contact views; its Q&A also offers non-members a separately paid, matched spreadsheet list. | Open public access to all records or permission to copy and republish the data. |
| Directory origin | EC21 says it assembles buyer data from multiple sources, including its own leads/inquiries, partner or exhibition sites, trade-organization websites and commercial lists it buys. | That every record was created on EC21 or has the same freshness and provenance. |
Preserve attribution and contact privacy when evaluating EC21 data.
EC21's Terms page says content responsibility rests with its originator, generally disclaims pre-screening and accuracy, and bars collecting or storing other users' personally identifying information for unlawful purposes. The reviewed text does not grant a broad right to extract or redistribute listings, and it does not state a blanket crawler prohibition. The separate Privacy Policy is marked last updated 2018-06-15; the Product Listing Policy lists mailing lists and personal information among prohibited listings. These summaries describe the posted pages, not a legal conclusion. EC21's robots.txt could not be read during this review, so no crawl rule is inferred.

| Record type | Retain with context | Limit or omit |
|---|---|---|
| Product or offer field | Source URL, field name and value as shown, unit/currency/trade condition when supplied, and observation time. | Do not infer missing specifications, landed cost, confirmed supply or a final negotiated price. |
| Company or lead claim | Author category where clear and the exact source page; keep buyer requirements separate from supplier catalog posts. | Do not present a supplier claim, buyer lead or directory entry as independently verified or as a completed transaction. |
| Contact or account data | Record only non-personal public context needed to distinguish the page type. | Omit private inquiries, login details, credentials, account-only messages and personal contact information. |
| Terms and privacy evidence | The exact policy URL and displayed version/date consulted. | Do not infer permission or prohibition from search visibility, missing robots text or another member’s posting. |
