Backcountry product data: technical specs, variants and price context

Backcountry sells technical outdoor gear whose useful comparison fields depend on the item: a ski shell, insulated layer, tent and bike component do not share one spec sheet. Keep the retailer Item #, exact variant and the product's own Tech Specs together, then separate a current promotion from member benefits and destination-specific shipping. Backcountry's current Terms prohibit automated data gathering, so this is a source guide, not a claim that datawebot retrieves its catalog.

Keep Backcountry's retailer Item # beside the brand and model identity

Backcountry product pages can pair a brand and model with a Backcountry Item #, option selector, product description and separate Tech Specs. The official indexed Black Crows Freebird 3L Jacket page identifies Item # BKCB07Z. Its official result, crawled about three weeks before this October 3, 2026 review, also showed Wax Yellow / XL; treat that as a dated page-state example, not a current option or stock report. In the reviewed listing evidence, Backcountry is the storefront and Black Crows is the brand; no separate marketplace seller or item-condition grade is shown. Record those fields only when explicitly labeled. Backcountry describes its Garage as an emerging-brand and retail-partner program, not a used-gear condition grade.

Product fieldWhat to preserveAvoid assuming
Retailer identityExact Backcountry Item #, product URL and page title. That the Item # is the manufacturer's own part number or a universal product ID.
Seller and conditionUse a seller/merchant label or new/used condition grade only when the product source displays it. The cited Black Crows listing exposes no separate seller or condition grade in the indexed result. That Backcountry Garage means used/refurbished inventory, or that an unlabeled listing has a particular condition.
Brand/modelBrand, model name, audience label and product family where shown. That similar model names or a shared family page have identical materials or specifications.
VariantSelected color and size, plus any displayed size-chart or fit context. That the parent product's price or availability applies to another selection.
Source descriptionSource-written product description and named feature values. That narrative marketing copy is a certified test result or an independent performance guarantee.
ObservationPage URL, selected option, market/currency and observation time. That a later price, product page or stock message matches an earlier snapshot.

Let each gear category determine its own technical specification map

Backcountry's Tech Specs vary with the product rather than following one apparel-only template. The official indexed Black Crows Freebird 3L Jacket page lists its own membrane/material, waterproof and breathability ratings, seams, fit, length, hood, pockets, venting, RECCO and activity. The result also lists a limited two-year manufacturer warranty for this jacket. A tent, pack, ski or bike component needs its own source-named fields; keep the displayed labels and units so a missing rating is not misread as zero or a negative result.

Fit and coverageRegular fit, hip length, adjustable helmet-compatible hood.Keep the product/audience and size-chart context; don't infer garment measurements from a fit label.
FunctionUnderarm vents, pockets and RECCO presence.Treat each feature as its own source field; missing details do not establish that a feature is absent.
Use caseBackcountry touring and ski mountaineering.Use source-listed activities as tags, not as proof that a product suits every climate or user.
Manufacturer warrantyThe Freebird 3L Jacket page lists a limited two-year manufacturer warranty.Attach this to the cited jacket/model only; do not extend it to all Backcountry products or confuse it with retailer return terms.

Keep the selected color and size attached to a mutable availability message

Backcountry product pages expose color and size choices, and any stock message can depend on the selected option. The official index showed Wax Yellow / XL for the cited jacket in a result crawled about three weeks before this review; this is a dated example only, not a current selector state, inventory count or reservation. Record an option and exact availability wording with its timestamp. Order confirmation, shipment or cancellation is separate evidence from a catalog page. Backcountry's current return policy distinguishes unused and used return eligibility; return rules are an order-policy state, not a condition grade shown on the product listing.

StateCaptureDo not infer
Color selectionSource color name and selected swatch/page URL.That product photos or stock prompts for one color describe another.
Size selectionExact displayed size, audience and relevant size-chart reference. That one size's price or availability applies to all sizes.
Availability promptExact source wording, selected option, location if shown and capture time.A reservation, precise on-hand quantity or completed order.
Order eventOrder confirmation, shipment or cancellation from an authorized transaction source. That a product-page observation alone proves fulfillment.
Missing optionRecord that the option was not presented in the observed page state. That the product never existed or is permanently unavailable.
Return eligibilityKeep the return-policy version, order date, membership status, item state and return outcome as order facts. The policy checked October 3, 2026 distinguishes unused gear (90 days under the standard policy; 365 days for Summit Club+ members) from used, undamaged gear (30 days for store credit). That a return rule classifies the condition of a product listing, or that every product qualifies; final-sale and shipping restrictions apply.

Separate sale pricing, Summit Club benefits, taxes and delivery

A Backcountry product page may show a current price beside an original or reference price, while promotions and Summit Club benefits have separate eligibility rules. The current terms distinguish free Summit Club from paid Summit Club+; the paid tier's 10% cashback applies to eligible merchandise subtotal, not automatically to the item price. Its free 2-day shipping benefit is scoped to qualifying $150-or-more post-discount, pre-tax orders shipped within the contiguous U.S. Backcountry's shipping estimates are counted from shipment and remain estimates. Capture destination, selected option and checkout charges separately.

The policy checked October 3, 2026 says typical standard delivery is 3–5 business days and economy is 5–10 business days from shipment. These are estimates. Backcountry's current terms prohibit automated data gathering and extraction

Backcountry's Terms of Use still display `Last Updated: July 10th, 2025` (checked October 3, 2026). Section 6 prohibits data mining, robots and other data-gathering or extraction methods in connection with the Services; developing or using apps that interact with Services without prior written consent; and bypassing or ignoring robots.txt instructions for automated access. Section 4 describes a limited personal-use license that excludes commercial use and copying/reuse absent authorization. The robots.txt file checked October 3 disallows account, cart, checkout, search, API and other listed paths and has separate noindex directives. A robots rule is not permission to collect other pages.

Backcountry product fields, pricing and access questions

What does Backcountry's Item # identify?

Backcountry product details can show a retailer Item # alongside the manufacturer or model name. Keep the exact Item # and source URL as Backcountry identifiers; do not assume they are the brand's own part number, UPC or a variant-level ID unless the page explicitly labels them that way.

Do Backcountry Tech Specs use the same fields for every product?

No. The fields are category- and product-specific. A technical shell may show a waterproof rating, breathability rating, seams, fit, hood, pockets, venting and activity. A down layer or a bike component needs a different attribute set. Preserve each displayed field, unit and exact value rather than filling missing categories with a generic outdoor-gear schema.

How should I compare a Backcountry size and color?

Keep the selected color and size, the product's audience or fit label, and any size-chart context with the price observation. A product-family price or one color's availability does not establish the offer for another selected variant.

Does the displayed Backcountry price include every benefit and delivery charge?

Keep the item price, original/reference price, current promotion, eligible Summit Club benefits, shipping and taxes separate. Summit Club+ cashback applies only to eligible merchandise and excludes items such as tax and shipping; shipping methods and charges are shown for the order and may depend on product and destination. A displayed discount or member benefit is not automatically the final checkout price for every buyer.

Does a Backcountry stock message guarantee that the item can be ordered?

No. Treat the message as a page observation tied to a selected option and time, not a reservation or exact stock count. Backcountry's Terms say that if a product is unavailable, it will charge only for products included in the shipment. Order confirmation and fulfillment status are stronger evidence than a product-page prompt.

Can a crawler collect Backcountry product pages for a commercial dataset?

Backcountry's Terms of Use, last updated July 10, 2025, prohibit data mining, robots and other data-gathering or extraction methods in connection with its Services; they also prohibit apps interacting with the Services without prior written consent and limit service use to personal purposes. The Terms require compliance with robots.txt directions for automated access. Review current terms and obtain the required permission for a specific project. This guide does not authorize collection or reuse.
