Swappa listing data: device variants, condition and price signals

Compare Swappa electronics by model, storage, carrier and condition. Separate seller Ask Price, buyer Listing Price, completed-sale benchmarks and partner trade-in offers.

Swappa is a fixed-price venue where each listing describes a specific item

Swappa's Terms describe the Site as a venue for users to offer and buy electronic goods in a fixed-price format; Swappa is not directly involved in the buyer-seller transaction. Its terms require listings to accurately describe the item, price, model and condition, and say each unique item must have its own listing.

Swappa is a fixed-price venue where each listing describes a specific item
Record levelWhat it representsKeep separate
Product modelA device family or catalog identity used to locate comparable listings and Swappa price references.A model name alone does not identify storage, carrier, condition or one physical copy.
Marketplace listingAn item described by a seller at a stated buyer-facing listing price and condition. The seller's description and condition remain listing claims; don't treat the venue as a warranty for every detail.
Partner trade-in quoteAn offer from a Swappa Trade-In partner for a device matching the selected inputs.A partner quote is not a marketplace Ask Price or a completed peer-to-peer sale.

Match the device configuration and condition before comparing offers

Swappa's device criteria cover functionality, device integrity, clean ESN/IMEI, activation locks and outstanding financing. It uses familiar New, Mint, Good and Fair grades for many devices, but its requirements differ by category. The grade is a marketplace description, not a picture of the particular unit or a guarantee of its future performance.

Match the device configuration and condition before comparing offers
Comparison inputWhy it changes the matchEvidence rule
Model and generationA similar product name can refer to a different device generation or variant.Keep the exact Swappa product/model page or item label used for the comparison.
Storage and carrier stateCapacity and carrier compatibility can change buyer demand and price; some listings also identify color or lock status.Preserve each option as shown instead of flattening variants into one model average.
Condition gradeNew/Mint/Good/Fair are common device labels, but some product categories offer different condition choices.Record the selected grade and listing category; don't compare unlike category rules.
Listing reviewSwappa says most listings receive a human review of verification photos, device identifiers, listing criteria and seller history; Enterprise Sellers are exempt from that review step.Review is a moderation process, not proof that every seller claim is independently guaranteed.

Ask Price, Listing Price, sale benchmarks and trade-in quotes answer different questions

Swappa's Ask Price FAQ defines the seller's Ask Price as the amount before Swappa and payment-processing fees; the buyer-facing Listing Price includes the buyer fee. Swappa also publishes price references distinguishing average asking from average completed-sale prices, while Trade-In displays partner quotes that depend on the device information and later inspection.

Ask Price, Listing Price, sale benchmarks and trade-in quotes answer different questions
Price signalWhat it representsComparison rule
Ask PriceThe seller's chosen amount before Swappa and payment-processing fees.Use only when the source explicitly exposes the seller-side label; it is not the buyer's total.
Listing PriceThe buyer-facing price derived from the Ask Price and marketplace fee structure.Keep the label, taxes/shipping context and observation time; fees can change.
Average asking priceAn average of active seller asks in the referenced device/variant scope. It describes offers, not buyer payment or a completed transaction.
Average sale priceA Swappa price-page measure based on completed sales for the selected model and variant scope.Retain the product/storage scope and page update date; a model average is not a quote for one condition-matched device.
Trade-in offerA partner's quote for the selected device and condition, subject to its inspection and offer terms.Keep partner, quote time and condition inputs; don't merge it with marketplace transaction prices.

Incoming Inventory is seller-owned workflow data, not public marketplace output

Swappa's Incoming Inventory documentation describes single-item entry, spreadsheet imports, bulk photo management and seller-side inventory status before a listing is created. Its fields include seller references and SKUs, product variants, condition, cost, asking price and internal notes; these should not be presented as public listing fields or data available about other sellers.

Seller reference / seller SKUSeller's own inventory control identifiers.Do not treat these as public Swappa product IDs or cross-seller join keys.
Cost and asking priceSeller's own cost tracking and requested price before listing. The seller's cost and internal pricing are account-side records, not consumer-visible marketplace fields.
Variant, condition and damage notesSeller-entered preparation details for an inventory item and its future listing.Only repeat the item facts that the public listing actually displays; omit internal notes.
Quantity and device identifiersThe PDF limits quantity-available handling to Enterprise Sellers and describes serial/ESN entry in seller workflows.Exclude IMEI/ESN, serial numbers and seller account inventory from public examples and third-party records.

Treat each listing as a dated observation and check Swappa's access terms

Swappa's Terms of Use, last updated 24 August 2022, limit site use to personal and non-commercial use and exclude commercial collection/use of listings, descriptions or prices without express written consent. Section S prohibits automated access except as expressly permitted by and compliant with separate API Terms or with Swappa's prior written permission. The terms themselves do not establish a public listing-feed schema.

Listing URL and item identitySwappa requires each unique item to have its own listing; retain the precise item and model context.Do not infer sale or removal reason from a listing that is no longer visible.
Variant and conditionStorage, carrier, lock status and grade affect comparability.A product-level average cannot replace the exact listing's selected options.
Price label and timestampListing and price-reference values change over time and represent different states.A current ask is not a completed sale or a guaranteed price.
Access permissionThe posted Terms call out both commercial price/listing collection and automated access.Public visibility is not a permission grant; review the actual terms and any separate written authorization before use.
