Marine Layer apparel data: fabric, sizing & Re-Spun

Map Marine Layer style, fit, size and fiber details; compare fabric families and separate Re-Spun clothing from the Take Back Bag program and returns.

A collection, a garment and a selected variant are different records

Marine Layer collections use category and fabric facets alongside size, color, fit, length and product type. Those browse labels describe a group; the product page is the garment record; its displayed Style Number, selected color and size identify the specific item or option at different levels. On October 3, 2026, the Natural and Navy pages for the Re-Spun Signature Crew displayed different Style Numbers (MSC1-RS-NAT and MSC1-RS-BI), so retain the value and page context instead of treating it as a universal family ID.

Record levelUseful Marine Layer fieldsWhy the distinction matters
Collection or fabric familyDepartment/category, named fabric line, fit and product typeA family card can summarize products with different fiber contents.
Garment pageProduct name, displayed Style Number, garment type and specification pageRetain the Style Number as labeled; a color-specific product can have a different value.
Selected variantColor, size, availability and variant URL where shownA size or color selection can change the actual item and its current offer state.
Size-chart entryGarment category, fit system, standard and in-between labelsLabels may be chart-specific; do not normalize them to a different garment's sizing.

Fiber percentages belong to the exact garment

Marine Layer's Re-Spun name is not a garment-wide fiber percentage. A Re-Spun Sport Graphic Tee page checked October 3, 2026 lists 47% recycled polyester, 47% polyester and 6% spandex, while separately describing a portion of the fabric as Re-Spun and saying “100% of these yarns are recycled.” Keep the specification and the brand's yarn statement attributed as separate claims; neither should be substituted for the other.

Second Re-Spun exampleChecked October 3, 2026: the Natural Signature Crew page lists 45% recycled polyester, 30% Tencel Lyocell and 25% upcycled cotton; Standard Fit, style MSC1-RS-NAT, yarn spun in Spain and assembled in the USAThat its composition, fit or production origin applies to the Sport Graphic Tee.

Fabric-family names are clues, not a substitute for composition

A Marine Layer collection checked October 3, 2026 describes several men's fabric families with different stated weights and finishes. Keep the listed family description with the collection and date; use the individual garment's fiber and construction details for a material record.

Preserve fit and size-chart labels as published

Marine Layer product pages can include a garment-specific chart as well as a selected size. A men’s tops chart checked October 3, 2026 uses intermediate labels such as Marge and Larger between its standard chest ranges. Treat those as labels from that particular chart, not as universal sizes, and preserve the measurement range and garment category beside them.

Price and availability depend on the selected option

A garment family does not have one permanent offer state. A source record should keep the selected size and color with the displayed regular or sale price, promotion context, final-sale status and observation time. Marine Layer can change offers and inventory; no current price, discount or stock level is reported here.

The Take Back Bag is a program kit, separate from apparel

The Re-Spun Take Back Bag has a separate listing and return journey from clothing. On October 3, 2026, its page stated a $40 reward, U.S.-address availability, limits of three per order and six per calendar year, 24-by-24-inch dimensions, up to 15 pounds, and final-sale/no-promotion terms. These are dated listing terms that may change. The Returns page excludes the kit from its general apparel return period. Keep the kit, shipped-back textiles, earned reward and clothing purchase as separate records.

A useful apparel record preserves its source and scope

For catalog enrichment or apparel analysis, connect garment, selected variant and program records through stable source references. Retain the exact page wording and observation date so a fabric-family description, garment fiber statement, take-back reward and offer status cannot be mistaken for the same kind of fact. This field map is an informational planning aid, not a claim that a Marine Layer connection is active.
