Macy’s product data: Web IDs, variants and Marketplace offers
Macy’s Web ID, selected options, price labels and Marketplace sellers. Terms restrict commercial use and automated collection. Reviewed Oct. 3, 2026.
A Macy’s Web ID is a product-page reference, not a selected variant
Keep Macy’s Web ID as a retailer product-page reference when it is present in a record you own or are authorized to use. A selected color, size or fit is a separate option state; do not treat the Web ID as a universal SKU, variant identifier or seller offer. Store the selected options and observation context beside the page key. This guide contains no live Macy’s item data.

| Record element | What to preserve | Comparison rule |
|---|---|---|
| Web ID | The retailer page/product identifier, retained as text with its source reference | It is a page/product key; do not assume it uniquely identifies every color, size or offer. |
| Selected option | The chosen color, size and fit labels where the data owner is authorized to record them | Keep the option combination separate from the product-page key and from other selections. |
| Offer context | Seller, channel, market and currency when present in an authorized record | A Macy’s product identity does not by itself identify a Macy’s or Marketplace offer. |
| Observation | Source/rights basis, selected options and observation time | Do not infer a current checkout price or full catalog state from a saved product reference. |
Price labels, promotion eligibility and shopping channel are separate facts
Macy’s online pricing guidance says stores and macys.com operate separately, so products, prices and promotions can differ. It defines Regular (REG.) and Original (ORIG.) as an offer price, not necessarily a price at which an item sold. Retain Macy’s label and the conditions attached to it; do not convert a reference price or coupon into a transaction history.

| Price context | Macy’s published distinction | How to retain it |
|---|---|---|
| REG. / ORIG. | The price at which the item was offered, not necessarily the price at which it sold | Preserve the label; do not treat it as a completed sale or historical paid price. |
| Sale or clearance | Sale prices may apply to selected items; additional sale terms can specify broader eligibility | Keep the exact label and offer scope with the selected option and date. |
| Limited stock | A stock or supply label describes an offer state that can change | Store it as a dated state, not a durable product attribute. |
| Coupon or promo code | Offer exclusions apply, and online and store promotions may differ | Record eligibility separately from the displayed base price; do not assume a discount applies. |
| Online versus store | The same item may have different price, product availability or promotion by channel | Keep channel and selected store/market separate when comparing observations. |
A Marketplace seller is part of the offer and its service path
Macy’s Legal Notice says a third-party Marketplace item identifies its seller beneath the product name. That seller fulfills and ships the order and handles processing, returns and customer service; Macy’s disclaims responsibility for the seller and its product representations. Current Macy’s return guidance says Marketplace items must be returned directly to the seller within 30 days of delivery, with refund processing after the seller receives the item. Check the current item instructions and exceptions; these rules do not describe every Macy’s offer.

| Offer field | What to retain | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Product reference | Web ID and selected option, when available from an authorized record | The same product identity can appear in distinct offers. |
| Seller attribution | The seller label attached to a Marketplace offer | Keep a third-party offer distinct from an item sold by Macy’s. |
| Fulfillment and shipping | The party identified as fulfilling and shipping the order | Marketplace responsibility differs from Macy’s own retail role. |
| Return path | Seller destination and applicable deadline from the current Marketplace policy | Seller Marketplace items go to the seller within 30 days of delivery; do not generalize this rule to all products. |
| Offer observation | Seller, selected option, channel, price label and date | Do not merge seller, product identity and retailer promotion into one record. |
Macy’s Legal Notice and robots file answer different questions
Macy’s Legal Notice was checked October 3, 2026 in Singapore (October 2 UTC). It shows no update date and says its terms may change without notice. It grants personal, noncommercial site use and excludes commercial use; collection or use of product listings, descriptions, images or videos; derivative use; copying or other use for a third party’s benefit; and data mining, robots or similar data-gathering and extraction tools. Commercial exploitation also requires Macy’s prior express written consent. The robots file was checked on the same review date. These published terms and crawl directives are not legal advice, and a robots rule does not grant permission to collect or reuse content.

| Signal | Current published information | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Legal Notice | Personal/noncommercial site-use license; commercial use, product-content collection/use, derivative use, third-party-benefit copying and automated data gathering are excluded | No permission for a commercial extraction workflow or third-party use. |
| Wildcard robots group | Search, cart/bag, comparison, catalog and numerous parameterized paths are disallowed; specific path-pattern exceptions are also listed | A crawl directive does not change the Legal Notice or create a content license. |
| Named crawler groups | AdsBot-Google and adidxbot have empty Disallow values; Twitterbot is disallowed except for /shop/product; ClaudeBot has Crawl-delay: 5 | These crawler-specific rules are not a general collection or reuse authorization. |
| Sitemap declarations | The robots file lists two Macy’s sitemap indexes | A sitemap declaration is not consent to commercial reuse of listed content. |
| Review date | Legal Notice and robots file checked October 3, 2026 SGT / October 2, 2026 UTC; the Legal Notice shows no revision date | Recheck current pages before relying on these changeable policies. |
