Interscope Records product data: artists, releases and editions

Guide to Interscope artist, album, pressing and store-product data: vinyl formats, editions, variants and offer context, plus UMG's posted terms on reuse. No catalog-access claim.

An artist page, a music release and a store item are different records

Interscope.com brings together label and artist references with a webstore. UMG's Terms of Sale identify UMG Commercial Services, Inc. as the service provider for that webstore and say that only the webstore is controlled by UMG. Keep the page object clear before adding data: an artist reference is not an album, a pressing or a purchase listing, and a store listing does not by itself prove current artist affiliation or catalog ownership.

Record typeWhat belongs hereKeep separate from
Artist or label referenceName, official profile URL and source-stated biography or affiliation, if relevant.A complete roster, a record contract or rights ownership unless the source expressly establishes it.
Musical workAlbum or soundtrack title, creator credits and track relationships when published.A particular physical edition, store price or currently available item.
Release or pressingFormat, edition, pressing/reissue details and source-stated release information. The work's original issue date and the date of a later store pressing.
Store productStore product URL, title, selected format/variant and the exact labels shown on that page. The underlying work or another pressing of the same album.
Order or receiptPurchase and fulfillment events from an authorized transaction record.Public artist pages or product listings; do not bring customer account data into a product catalog.

Join the album to a specific release and pressing, not by title alone

One album title can refer to a musical work, a digital release, an original physical edition, a later remaster and multiple store products. A reliable catalog keeps those levels linked without merging them. Use a source-provided identifier or page URL as the observed key; do not invent a UPC, SKU, label code or rights relationship when the page does not supply it.

EntityFields to preserve when statedJoin rule
ArtistDisplayed artist name and official artist-page URL.Keep featured or credited artists distinct from the seller and label named for a release.
Work or recordingAlbum/work title, track titles and track-to-side order if published.A work can have several releases and formats; title matching alone is not a unique identifier.
ReleaseEdition name, format, label/imprint, release/reissue date and country/market only when shown.Do not substitute the work's original release year for a pressing or reissue date.
Pressing or variantDisc count, color, weight, picture-disc, packaging, numbering or signed/exclusive details when stated.Different pressing details identify a distinct edition or option, even when the album is the same.
Store listingProduct URL or displayed item ID, selected variant, market and observation date.Keep each listing and variant attached to its edition; do not assume a public SKU, barcode or catalog feed exists.

Model music formats and edition details as separate dimensions

A format describes how the music is supplied; an edition describes which release or pressing the store offers. UMG's Terms describe physical products, digital downloads, streaming and subscription services as different store offerings. Within physical music, the listed disc count, size, color, mastering, package and limited-edition attributes can distinguish pressings. Record only details actually stated on the source page, and avoid copying full descriptions or tracklists into a commercial catalog without the required rights.

DimensionExamples of source-stated valuesData decision
Product formatVinyl LP or single, CD, cassette, digital download, stream or subscription where offered.Do not treat digital access and a physical item as interchangeable products.
Disc configuration1LP, 2LP, 3LP, 7-inch, box set or other displayed configuration.Preserve the exact count and format; a title may describe a standard and deluxe edition.
Pressing and packageColor/finish, weight, picture disc, mastering/pressing note, jacket and included components.Store source-stated terms and keep undisclosed details null; do not infer sound or quality claims.
Edition markerExclusive, first pressing, numbered, signed, limited edition or member-only wording when shown.Record the exact badge/text and context; an edition label is not a stock count or ownership claim.
Track informationTrack titles and side order if the page publishes them.Treat tracklists as release content with separate reuse rights; a product page is not blanket permission to reproduce it.

Keep price, market, member access and order state attached to an observation

Store listings can vary by product option, country, promotion or membership. Capture the displayed offer as a time-bound observation rather than as a permanent fact about the album. UMG's posted Terms say only variants listed in the webstore are available; limited-edition and preorder delivery dates are not guaranteed unless stated, and limited-edition products are not returnable or exchangeable. These are purchase terms, not an inventory feed or a delivery estimate for a particular order.

Read UMG's store terms before commercial catalog reuse

The Interscope webstore Terms of Sale shown during this review were last updated November 20, 2024. Section III says the store and its Content are for personal, non-commercial use unless otherwise specified and requires UMG's express written agreement for use, transfer, copying, reproduction or modification of the store, Services, Content or source HTML outside permitted viewing/use. Section IV separately prohibits commercial exploitation of store information/material and describes screen/database scraping or spidering in the context of obtaining user lists or other information. Follow the posted terms and obtain written authorization for any commercial catalog use; do not read the user-list clause as either a blanket bot prohibition or a grant of permission for other automated access.
