Harney & Sons tea data: crops, ratings and packages

Map Harney tea pages by blend, crop, Mike’s ratings and selectable package; distinguish seasonal harvest details, bundle contents and recurring offers.

A tea, a package and a gift are separate catalog records.

Harney & Sons presents tea families and individual tea pages, then offers selectable package types and units. A gift can appear as an option beside a tea without being another weight or format of that tea. Preserve the relationship while keeping each record at the level the storefront actually names.

A tea, a package and a gift are separate catalog records.
Record levelWhat to captureKeep distinct
Tea identityDisplayed name, item code, tea type, category, ingredient and blend/origin wordingThe named tea is the parent identity; do not infer a universal stock code for each option.
Package optionSelector label, exact unit, count or weight, and package formatA 50-sachet bag and a loose-leaf tin are different purchasable units, even when the tea name matches.
Gift or bundleGift title and each named tea, accessory or other componentKeep the bundle parent and its components separate from a single-tea option.
Offer snapshotPrice and currency, stock/notify message, one-time or recurring status, and observation dateAn offer state changes over time and does not redefine the tea identity.

The selector determines the unit represented by a listing.

On Harney’s standard Darjeeling page, item code 35011 sits above selectable sachet and loose formats. The available units include 20 sachets, 50 sachets, a box of 20 individually wrapped sachets, 4 oz and 8 oz tins, a 1 lb bag, and a Creamy Chai Gift option. Keep the exact selector path with each observed unit; do not flatten a gift into a tea size.

Creamy Chai GiftGift/bundle option with components to resolve from its own detail pageA bundle should not inherit the base tea’s ingredient, weight or crop fields.
Teesta Valley 1st FlushThe unit selector says 3 oz. Tin; an image alt label says 3.5 oz.Keep the selector and asset-label values with their source locations; flag the conflict rather than choosing one.

Origin, flush and harvest date belong to a named tea and crop.

A region-level tea can combine harvest seasons, while a named garden product can describe one crop. Harney calls its standard Darjeeling a blend of first-flush and autumnal teas. Its Teesta Valley 1st Flush page describes a particular 2026 harvest. Use those as separate examples rather than assigning the Teesta crop’s facts to all Darjeeling tea.

Mike Harney’s ratings are house sensory fields.

Harney defines Mike’s Tea Ratings on a 0–5 scale, where zero means none of an attribute and five means it is a primary characteristic. Store the three ratings as Harney-authored sensory descriptions. Keep them separate from prose notes, the product’s body label and brewing instructions.

Gift and subscription details change the offer record.

Harney’s current subscription page, checked September 30, 2026, says subscribers can skip, swap or cancel; most products offer recurring intervals of 20, 30, 45, 60, 90 or 120 days. Those choices belong to a recurring offer, not the tea’s package identity. Check the live page before using any cadence or discount in a time-sensitive comparison.
