Grove Collaborative data: brands, variants and subscriptions
Model Grove Collaborative data across Grove Co. and partner brands, cleaner concentrates, pack variants and Autoship; keep offers, VIP membership and source Terms distinct.
Grove Collaborative is the storefront; the brand can be different.
Grove Collaborative operates a direct-to-consumer storefront for products from its own brands and outside brand partners. In a product record, keep the marketplace or retailer name separate from the product's displayed brand, then retain the exact category and listing URL. That distinction matters when Grove Co. and another home or personal-care brand appear in one catalog.

| Record role | Example from Grove's catalog | Keep distinct |
|---|---|---|
| Storefront source | Grove Collaborative / grove.co | The retailer page that presents the offer |
| Product brand | Grove Co. on the Multi-Purpose Cleaner Concentrate page | Brand ownership from the site where it is sold |
| Product identity | Multi-Purpose Cleaner Concentrate | Listing title from category or brand taxonomy |
| Product family | Household cleaning, personal care, beauty, wellness and related categories | Category path from a particular navigation or campaign label |
A cleaner concentrate listing describes both a product and a dilution.
Grove Co. Multi-Purpose Cleaner Concentrate is a useful example of a listing with a product variant and a stated use relationship. The page says each 1 oz concentrate makes 16 oz of cleaner and that a two-pack totals 32 oz. Store the concentrate pack and the diluted output as related quantities; do not relabel the concentrate itself as a ready-to-use 16 oz spray bottle.

| Listing detail | What the source page shows | Record handling |
|---|---|---|
| Product and brand | Grove Co. Multi-Purpose Cleaner Concentrate | Keep Grove Co. as brand and Grove Collaborative as storefront |
| Scent variant | The page offers named variants such as Lemon & Eucalyptus or Free & Clear | Bind selected scent and source variant identifier to the specific record |
| Pack and dilution | Each 1 oz bottle makes 16 oz; a two-count listing describes 32 oz total | Preserve package count, concentrate amount and stated finished-volume relationship separately |
| Bottle compatibility | Use with the Grove Co. Reusable Cleaning Spray Bottle | Represent an explicit companion-product relation, not an included item unless the listing says so |
| Ingredients and label claims | The selected listing has its own ingredient panel and product claims | Retain source URL and capture date; Grove's Terms warn product details can be incomplete or change with manufacturer labels |
Pack size is a selectable variant, not a new product family.
Grove Co. 2-Ply Bamboo Paper Towels illustrates how a product can have a roll count selection while repeated unit measurements remain stable. The product page describes 140 sheets per roll and gives sheet dimensions; a chosen pack quantity, displayed price, and availability belong to that selected variant and observation.

| Field | Paper-towel example | Why preserve it |
|---|---|---|
| Product identity | Grove Co. 2-Ply Bamboo Paper Towels | Do not create a separate parent product for every pack |
| Selected pack | The page exposes a Choose Size control for different roll counts | Record the chosen pack/variant ID, not just the shared title |
| Repeated unit | 140 sheets per roll; page states 5.4 × 11 in per sheet | Keep per-roll and per-sheet measures distinct from pack total |
| Offer state | The page presents Buy Once and Subscribe options, plus selected size and offer details | Capture the price and stock state only with its selected variant and date |
Keep Autoship, Buy Once and Green Rewards VIP separate.
Grove describes product-level Autoship as recurring deliveries on a selected schedule and also permits one-time orders. Green Rewards VIP is a separate annual membership associated with an account. A catalog page can describe the purchase choices it displays, but it cannot establish a customer's selected cadence, membership, next shipment, or account price.

| Purchase concept | Source-defined role | Data boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Buy Once | A one-time purchase choice on the listing | Do not attach an automatic shipment interval |
| Autoship | A product subscription with a customer-selected recurring cadence | Prices, availability, timing and order contents can change before shipment |
| Green Rewards VIP | An annual paid membership described separately in the Terms | Membership and reward eligibility are account-level, not product variants |
| Discount or reward label | May vary with promotion, product and membership context | Keep offer, membership tier and observation time separate; do not freeze current amounts in evergreen copy |
