Flippa business listings: financials, traffic and sale status
Understand Flippa listing scope, reported financials, traffic, offer status and verification labels—without treating an asking price or badge as a sale or buyer diligence.
Flippa's Terms and crawler directives
Flippa's Terms of Service, last updated November 6, 2025, §3 restricts copying, extracting or reusing Flippa content except as needed to use Flippa Services for their permitted purposes under the Terms. It also requires express written consent to use data-mining, robots or similar tools to extract substantial content for reuse or to create and publish a database of substantial content. robots.txt sets separate crawler directives; those directions do not grant permission under the Terms.

| Published boundary | What the source says | Scope to preserve |
|---|---|---|
| Terms §3 · Nov. 6, 2025 | Content reuse is limited; substantial extraction for reuse and a database of substantial content require express written consent. | Do not broaden the permitted Flippa-Service use exception into general permission. |
| robots.txt · User-agent: * | Disallows /users/, auction buy-it-now, offer and bid paths, /watch_item and /watch/listings/. | Crawler path directives only; they do not authorize other routes. |
| robots.txt · Slurp | Lists Crawl-delay: 0.2. | A crawler directive, separate from the Terms. |
What a Flippa listing represents
Flippa facilitates listings submitted by third-party sellers. Keep the underlying asset or business, its sale listing and a dated observation distinct. Terms §8 describes the types of rights and documented items that may be included; the listing itself specifies the proposed sale scope.

| Record layer | Examples described by Flippa | What not to infer |
|---|---|---|
| Asset or business | Websites, apps, domains and online businesses across areas such as ecommerce, SaaS and content. | A category is not a complete inventory of business rights or obligations. |
| Sale listing | Seller's description, asset category, proposed price and listing state. | A seller's listing is not independent proof of the claims it contains. |
| Specified sale scope | Terms §8 names website or application materials and rights, agreements, brand names, records, domain rights, inventory and other listed particulars. | Do not assume every account, agreement, liability or business component transfers. |
| Dated observation | The visible listing label or status and any stated field, paired with an observation date. | One observation does not establish a later change or a completed transfer. |
Revenue, expenses and reporting periods
Flippa's listing-description guidance asks sellers to include available financial history, such as revenue and expenses, and recommends month-by-month figures for at least 12 months if available. Treat that as guidance, not a universal listing requirement. Keep each amount attached to its stated currency, period and evidence source.

| Financial field | Context to retain | Interpretation limit |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | Amount, currency, stated month or date range, and whether the listing presents it as seller-reported or connected data. | Do not compare figures from mismatched periods or currencies. |
| Expenses | Amount, currency, period and any listed categories or supporting document. | Do not treat a partial expense summary as a complete cost base. |
| Net profit or margin | Source's metric label, value, currency and stated period or denominator. | Do not recompute an unstated formula or turn a reported value into a valuation. |
| P&L or other evidence | Whether a statement or evidence source is identified, and its named period/provider when stated. | A listed document or connected source is not automatically an audit. |
Traffic measures need their own context
Flippa's listing guidance cites website visitors, app downloads and other relevant metrics. Those measures answer different questions. Keep the measure, date window and named evidence source together instead of comparing unlabeled totals.

| Measure | Context to keep | Comparison boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Website activity | Use the exact displayed label, such as page views, visitors or unique visitors, with its time window and analytics source when stated. | Page views and people counts are not interchangeable. |
| Application activity | Keep downloads or other app measures under the source's own name and date range. | Downloads are not active users unless the listing says so. |
| Other performance claims | Preserve the seller's metric name, period and evidence label when present. | Do not normalize across businesses with different definitions or reporting tools. |
| Supporting analytics | Note whether the listing identifies a connected provider or seller-supplied evidence. | A summary or badge does not imply access to supporting records or prove completeness. |
Asking price, bids and completed sale
Terms §9 distinguishes fixed-price listings from auction-format listings. A price or bid is a listing or negotiation state; do not label it a completed sale price unless Flippa explicitly reports a completed transaction.

| Listing state | Fields to keep together | Do not equate with |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed price | Asking amount, currency, listing status and observation date. | A seller's asking price is not a sale price. |
| Auction format | Starting price, reserve, current bid and optional buy-it-now amount, with currency and state. | A starting bid, reserve or current bid is not a final transaction value. |
| Offer or negotiation | The exact status shown, such as an offer state, plus its observation date when relevant. | An accepted offer or pending negotiation does not by itself document a completed transfer. |
| Reported completion | Only an explicitly stated sold or completed state and its source-reported date/value. | Do not infer a sale from an asking price, bid, badge or listing description. |
Verification labels and buyer diligence
Current Terms §6.2 define the two listing labels narrowly and state that verification is not a substitute for buyer due diligence. Terms §§7–8 also place responsibility for listing information with sellers and require buyers to investigate the proposed asset and sale scope.

| Signal | Flippa's stated meaning | Limit to preserve |
|---|---|---|
| Data Verified | The seller has connected the listing to at least one third-party provider. | A connection does not certify every listing statement, completeness or future performance. |
| Vetted by Flippa | A Flippa representative or broker partner has reviewed seller-provided information. | The Terms make no warranty of accuracy or completeness; the badge does not replace diligence. |
| Seller description and transfer scope | The seller is responsible for keeping listing details complete and current; the Terms describe possible asset rights and documented inclusions. | Treat claims as seller-provided and unspecified components as unknown. |
| Buyer investigation | Flippa's Terms put investigation of the proposed purchase on the buyer. | This guide organizes listing evidence; it is not investment, legal, tax, accounting or valuation advice. |
