Separate live plants from garden supplies

Trees.com’s current navigation includes live plants and garden supplies. The family or department is useful catalog context, but it does not replace an item’s product type or its own published attributes.

Keep plant identity and nursery size distinct

A plant’s botanical identity, the size option offered for shipment, any package quantity and the plant’s stated mature dimensions answer different questions. The Golden Delicious and Dorsett Golden listings were checked October 4, 2026 and show why names, aliases and option values should stay attached to their individual product pages.

Plant identityProduct title, botanical name, cultivar or trade name, and a source-published alias when present. Golden Delicious is Malus domestica “Golden Delicious”; Dorsett Golden is Malus domestica “Dorsett Golden” and the listing also says “Also known as: Golden Apple.”Store the listing’s exact name and alias as published; do not infer taxonomy or merge similar names.
Nursery size or formExact selectable height, container or other nursery-size label and selected value, with units. The Golden Delicious listing has a separate size selector. This is the offered plant size at the source page, not mature height or width.
Package quantityThe checked Golden Delicious page separates Single, 2-Pack and 4-Pack from its size selector.Keep per-order quantity separate from the size of each plant; record only values shown for the particular item and observation.
Mature dimensionsSource-stated mature height and width as separate fields with units.Keep mature measurements apart from a selectable nursery-size option.
Observation provenanceExact listing URL and observation date alongside captured item-level values. The two examples here were checked October 4, 2026.Do not include changing price, promotion, stock or review values in this evergreen guide.

Attribute growing details and pollination to the listing

Growing zones, sunlight, growth rate, harvest timing and pollination language belong to the product page that states them. The Golden Delicious listing’s summary card and detailed Pollination Info use different wording; the Dorsett Golden page has its own pollination statement and named examples. Preserve each product and page location rather than reconciling these into a horticultural recommendation.

Pollination cardGolden Delicious summary card: “Self-fertile but benefits from cross-pollination.”Retain the card wording and its location on the listing.
Detailed pollination sectionGolden Delicious Pollination Info: “This plant is partially self-pollinating,” followed by listed pollinizer choices.Keep this section’s wording and named relationships distinct from the summary card.
Dorsett Golden · Pollination Info and FAQThe product section says “This plant is not self-pollinating”; the FAQ says a compatible pollinator such as Anna Apple can maximize fruit production.Keep the listing section and FAQ statements attributed to this item; do not generalize the wording to other apple varieties.

Keep growing zones separate from shipping limits

The retailer’s shipping guide and individual product pages provide different kinds of scope. The shipping guide was checked October 4, 2026. The Golden Delicious and Dorsett Golden listings each show their own state-exclusion lists on that date; those can change and do not follow from a growing-zone range.

Use current care and policy references for their stated scope

Care references and commercial policies should remain attached to the plant, purchase type and policy date that the source names. A growing-zone map is guidance, while the guarantee and returns pages state separate eligibility and conditions.
