1stDibs listing data: object identity, seller and offers
Map individual 1stDibs objects, dealer claims, offers and destination-specific shipping. Track asking price, condition, provenance and content-use limits.
Model a collectible as one specific object
1stDibs brings professional dealers and makers together with buyers of vintage, antique and contemporary design. A listing can represent one particular object rather than a repeatable retail variant, so preserve its source identity and describe seller statements as claims. Some items are unique and can become unavailable through a dealer’s other sales channel; keep availability tied to the page and observation time.

| Keep together | Source information | Comparison rule |
|---|---|---|
| Listing identity | Canonical item URL, displayed item or listing ID when present, title, category and seller/dealer. | Different listings remain separate even when titles or photographs look alike; a listing ID is not a manufacturer SKU. |
| Maker and attribution | Designer, maker, attributed period/date, style, material and seller wording | Do not normalize an attributed maker or date into an independently verified fact. |
| Physical details | Dimensions, condition, restoration notes and disclosed provenance | Keep units and seller-provided qualifiers; do not fill missing measurements from images. |
| Observation | Source URL, displayed availability or offer state, page market/currency and capture time. | A listing is a dated observation, not proof that the object remains available. |
Keep price, negotiation and freight as separate offer fields
A displayed amount does not always settle the transaction. 1stDibs supports direct purchase and seller negotiation, while shipping quotes can depend on object dimensions and the buyer's destination.

| Offer dimension | What to retain | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Displayed price | Amount, currency, price label and observation time | The displayed amount can change and should not be treated as a sold price. |
| Purchase path | Direct-purchase state, Make an Offer availability or seller response | An asking price and an accepted negotiated price are different events. |
| Shipping | Quote amount, destination, quote date, carrier or arranging party when shown | Some delivery quotes require an address and dimensional-weight calculation. |
| Landed comparison | Item amount plus quoted freight, duties or taxes when separately provided | Do not add unquoted import costs or infer a delivered total from item price alone. |
Separate dealer claims, seller review and authenticity policies
1stDibs publishes several distinct trust statements. Its seller page describes application review and inventory audits, while its Promise advertises an authenticity guarantee with one year to report an issue for a full refund. The User Agreement says 1stDibs relies on seller-provided item information, does not verify it and describes sales as-is. Keep each statement tied to its source and preserve the dealer claim separately; a seller badge or listing field alone is not an independent appraisal of a particular object.

| Evidence layer | Record it as | Do not infer |
|---|---|---|
| Dealer description | Seller-stated maker, age, materials, condition and provenance wording, with the listing URL and capture time. | A claimed attribution or condition becomes an independently verified fact. |
| Seller and inventory review | The public seller page describes application review and proactive inventory audits for accurate representation. | The public description of a review process establishes the provenance or condition of each individual field. |
| Published authenticity promise | The Promise page says to contact 1stDibs within one year about an authenticity issue for a full refund. | The listing itself is a certificate of authenticity or a substitute for checking the applicable protection terms. |
| User Agreement §§6–7 | The agreement says sellers are responsible for descriptions, 1stDibs relies on seller information and does not verify it or make representations/warranties about an item. | The agreement language erases separate published purchase-protection statements; preserve each source and scope. |
| As-is sale and buyer review | The agreement describes sales as-is and makes buyers responsible for determining value, condition and authenticity, subject to applicable consumer rights. | A platform, dealer or automated data label is an expert appraisal. |
| Independent evidence | Appraisal, condition report, restoration record and provenance documents supplied for the specific object. | A marketplace trust signal replaces item-specific evidence when a decision requires it. |
Check the User Agreement before saving or reusing listing content
As reviewed October 3, 2026, the current User Agreement says site access does not grant a license to content, restricts commercial use except as permitted or approved, and says users may not download or save copies of content or screens except as provided. The reviewed agreement text has no explicit robot or web-scraping clause. That absence is not authorization to automate collection or reuse item photographs and seller descriptions; confirm an appropriate permission route for the intended work.

| Agreement topic | What the public text says | Data-use boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Content license | Site access does not grant a license to content, and the agreement restricts downloading or saving content/screens except as provided. | Do not republish listing images, seller descriptions or copied page content without the required rights. |
| Commercial use | The agreement says commercial use of the site is prohibited except where allowed in the agreement or otherwise approved. | A public listing is not a blanket license for commercial catalog reuse. |
| Automated-access wording | The reviewed agreement text contains no explicit “robot” or “scraping” clause. | Do not infer permission from silence; obtain written authorization for the proposed method and use. |
| Seller-supplied content | The agreement describes seller content as supplied, owned or licensed by sellers for publication on 1stDibs. | Keep authorship and third-party rights distinct from data normalization or item matching. |
